A new approach to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the EU

REPLACE 2 Project Updates: 8th October 2013

Update on all partners current activities

There was a very positive outcome from the REPLACE 2 partner meeting this month.

The community based researchers’ training went very well for the new partners at Gabinet and APF and CESIE are currently conducting their training.

Partners have been active in distinguishing the levels of readiness to change the act of FGM the communities they are working with are. This will assist in the development of appropriate interventions at a later stage.   Following the training sessions, community based researchers are preparing to conduct exploratory interviews next month with community members.

Dr Beecham from the Coventry University team has organised to visit the new partners to hold a training session for the community based researchers in how to use software to analyse the qualitative data they will be collecting. This will be carried out in November and December.

The REPLACE 2 Conference, being held at Coventry University’s London campus on April 10-11th 2014, preparations are well under way! Updates will be posted soon in the ‘conference’ area of the website.
