A new approach to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the EU

REPLACE 2 Project Updates: 27th November 2013

Update on REPLACE 2 activities

It was great to see REPLACE 2 mentioned in the European Commission press release 'International Day of Violence against Women: European Commission takes action to combat Female Genital Mutilation' this week.

The project is progressing well in the run up to Christmas, one partner has begun their exploratory focus groups with community members to identify potential target behaviours on which to base the intervention in later stages of the project. Coventry University’s behaviour change experts will be holding a behaviour change refresher workshop on Monday 2nd with FORWARD and FSAN with the aim of identifying the target behaviours for intervention development. Dr David Beecham (Coventry University) is currently visiting our new partners (CESIE, Gabinet & APF) to train their community based researcher in qualitative data analysis. Preparation for the conference is also progressing well, the call for abstracts will be released shortly, as will the registration for attendance. Coventry University are continuing to revise the REPLACE Toolkit in light of new literature and progress of the REPLACE 2 project.

This month we welcome a new member to the team, Ben Jackson, who will be replacing Isher as she continues her academic development by pursuing a PhD in sexual health. We wish her all the best!
