Events & conferences

On the afternoon of March 9th FORWARD took part in this year's International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations at London’s City Hall. This year the topic was ‘Women Who Inspire’.  The event was organised by the Mayor of London’s office responsible for women’s issues and the engagement of London women. The event showcased 5 charities that are working with women across a variety of areas. FORWARD was represented by the Head of UK Programmes and one of our REPLACE project Community Champions, who spoke about her experience of FGM and the impact of the training from FORWARD as part of the REPLACE 2 project. She now engages with her community and family in campaigning to end FGM.

Dr Yussif Alhassan presented at the annual Health and Life sciences conference at Coventry University this month. He presented the evidence gathered from three European countries involved in the REPLACE 2 project on the drivers and influencers of FGM.
