Welcome to the REPLACE 2 Female Genital Mutation (FGM) project blog. This blog will provide you with a behind the scenes peek at the inner workings of the REPLACE project. This project is funded by the European Commission and marks the collaboration of six European countries, England (Coventry University and FORWARD UK), the Netherlands (FSAN), Italy (CESIE), Portugal (APF), Spain (Gabinet) and Belgium (Ghent University), with the aim of bringing about a social change to mark the end of FGM. Here you will find updates on the latest news, FGM related events, research methodologies, project milestones and much more over the course of the next two years. We are very proud to announce the launch of REPLACE 2 today (18th March 2013) following the successful completion of REPLACE 1 in 2011. To learn more about REPLACE I please click here. REPLACE 2 aims to improve the well-being of individuals affected by FGM by working directly with FGM practising communities in the EU. The project involves capacity building and development, and knowledge transfer so that all partner organisations and communities take away new skill sets and knowledge to use in future efforts to bring about social change. One of the expected outcomes of this project will be to share the REPLACE 2 Behaviour change intervention with the FGM EuroNet. Right now researchers at Coventry University are excitedly preparing for the arrival of our European partners for the project kick off week (w/c 22nd April). The kick off week will comprise of a five day intensive training and knowledge exchange between the six countries involved, hosted by researchers at Coventry University.
